- Information from Phillippe Lantiez, who is a French Teacher and Historian in France, who his a specialist in WW2 air war in Picardy, and alos a volunteer in the Musium of Resiistance and Deportation in Picardy (Farginiers) . Tells us that Alan was an R.A.F. VR, the pilot of a Halifax coded KN-H serial JD247 from the 77th Sqn. Durung the return from a mission over Mannheim, the plane crashed on November 18th 1943 near the Village of Moy de L'Aisne. Alan was killed in the crash with the navigator (Sgt Frederick Reubern Wise) the other crew members managed to bail out. Two airmen were found by Fench Helpers and resistance and escaped, the others were captured by the germans and jailed at Stalag 4B.
