- Ione Love (Eachus) Johnson, 83, passed away peacefully at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., on Thursday, May 4, 2006. Mrs. Johnson was born April 14, 1923, in Morley, Mo., to the late Arthur and Amanda Eachus. She was the widow of Dr. George L. Johnson, a retired U.S. Army Colonel. Mrs. Johnson attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo., majoring in art, and was an avid artist all her life. Ione had a love of music, and played the piano, organ and violin. She also enjoyed bowling, golf and tap dancing. Mrs. Johnson served in the Womens Army Corps and was a veteran of World War II. Ione married George Johnson in Morley, Mo., in 1947. They were married for 36 years until his death in 1984. Mrs. Johnson had recently moved to the Vienna, Va., area where three of her five children live. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her five children: Eric Johnson and his wife, Margaret, of Kailua, Hawaii; Clay Johnson and his wife, Barbara, of Vienna, Va.; Karen Manfredi and her husband, Michael of Vienna, Va.; Jeffrey Johnson of Arlington, Va.; Mark Johnson and his wife, Jervae, of Florissant, Colo.; one sister, Ruth Sangren and her son, Kris, of Nixa, Mo.; and one brother, James Eachus and his children, Robert and Wendy, of Marble Hill, Mo. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
