Donald L. Eachus Sr., 80, of Acme, died Thursday, March 8, 2007, at his home while surrounded and comforted by his loving family. He was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Youngwood, a son of the late Howard J. and Alice Emma Hainan Eachus. Donald had been a resident of Acme for the last 40 years. He had worked as a truck driver and had only recently retired at the age of 78 in May 2005. Donald was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific on the USS Tennessee. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ione J. Friedline Eachus; his children, Donna L. Errett and husband Jason, of Vineland, N.J., Ronald Eugene Eachus and wife Rose Marie, of the Marshall Islands, Deborah Pankopf, of Mt. Pleasant, Patricia Louise Kastner and husband Rick, of Stahlstown, Cynthia Susan Eachus, of Mt. Pleasant, and Donald Eachus Jr. and wife Connie Lynn, of Acme; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Eachus, of Greensburg; and three sisters, Alice Mentgen and husband Jack, and Juanita Ruth Daniels and husband Jay, all of Chicago, Ill., and Catherine Pepperd, of Port Charlotte, Fla. In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by a son, Charles Edward Eachus; two sisters, Sharon Weimer and Virginia Burgess; and three brothers, John, Glenn and Duane Eachus. Family and friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the CLYDE BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 711 Melcroft, where a funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Paul C. Freidhof officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Union Cemetery, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Donald L. Eachus Sr. To sign
