- When he was a young man Thomas went to Denver and for two years was employed as a machinist by the Denver & Rio Grande Railway, Later he was located at Decatur. as a salesman for the Ohio Whip Company. In 1911 he opend a jewelry store and watch repair stand in the building now housing [1941] the Lafayette Pool Room, and next door to the Lafayette Hotel. In 1917 he sold this business and in 1920 became a registerd optometrist and practiced his new proffession on the floor above the store he had once owned.

Thomas Eachus sufferd a stroke in 1936 and consquently sold his business in 1938 to Dr R.D. Thomas and retired. Mr Eachus had a slow decline in his health and strength after the stroke, His condition was known to be critical and hes died of a cerebral hemorage.
