Appointed acting Sergent 20th January 1918 Cape Town (un paid) Appointed Lance Sergent 30th September (unpaid) Capetown. Embarked for UK 6th April 1919. Transferrd to Army Reserve on Demobilization 24th May 1919. Discharged 31st May 1920. Residence 27 Eotcks Street, Preston. Lancashire.
William, worked for S+J Watts of Manchester, before emigrating with his his wife Maud and children Cyril & Eric, they arrived in Southampton from Capetown 8th June1925 on the ship Windsor Castle. the address given for their stay was 63 Lord Duncan Street, Salford, Lancashire.
William also came for a visit from Capetown on the "Arundle Castle" arriving Southampton 21st May 1928. he again stayed at Lord Duncan Street.
