 Directory 1942/1948/1954; 145 Thornton Rd, Rusholme, Manchester Charles was a Sergeant in the Royal Artillery during the first world war. He sufferd from a gas attack which left him with severe astma and bronchitis. He was very fond of the horses during the flat season, and the day he died his last each way bet came up, the winnings being about the only thing his wife had from him.
 In 1915 he was residing at 145 Thornton Road, Moss Side, Manchester.  on the 13th Dec 1915 he was enrolled in the 7th Battalion Manchester Regiment, and on the 10th April 1916 was at Fort Brocklehurst Gosport,  The Royal Regiment of Artillery.  Number 72079
