- In January 1894, Robert was attacked and stabbed on Rochdale Road, Manchester. [archive - DM 16]
On the 1901 Census Robert was living with his brother John and his wife at 7 Abbott St, Manchester. He described himself as a widower, even though his wife Emma was still alive and living in Stockton on Tees. She died in the Union Workhouse in 1917.
