    Notes:

    Death Notice:
Eric John Eachus, Hemlock Street., Mt. Carmel, passed away April 10, 2010 after a lengthy illness. He was 81 years old.
Born November 14, 1928 in Rockwood, TN, Eric moved to Kingsport with his family in 1936. He later graduated from Dobyns-Bennett, class of '46, and went on to serve as a ship's radio operator in the U. S. Navy, touring the Pacific. Returning home, he earned his civil engineering degree from the University of Tennessee and began his construction career.
Travelling extensively throughout the southeast with his wife and daughter in tow, Eric worked on a wide variety of construction projects in Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia, with occasional excursions to North Carolina and Mississippi. He retired in 1993 from the Atlanta firm Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart and Stewart. Soon after, he and his wife returned home to Tennessee, where he puttered around the yard and tinkered in the garage, when he couldn't go fishing. He liked exploring new places and telling funny stories about the people he encountered along the way. Eric was an avid reader, always inquisitive and curious about new things. He had a jolly sense of humour which enjoyed practical jokes and tall tales.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Elsie Shatford Eachus and his sister, Marjorie E. Antrim.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 59 years, Helen D. Eachus of the home; his daughter, Martha Jon and son-in-law Mike Clark of Mt. Carmel; his sister, Doreen E. Johnson of Kernersville, NC; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2010 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 1115 Hwy 11W, Church Hill, TN.
A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gary Gerhardt officiating. Music will be provided by Mary Lewis Derrick.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Highland Cemetery in Rogersville. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.
