An obituary dated 17th July 1889;
Elizabeth Jorden Eachus a native of Illinois, was born March 25th 1830; was married to James Dooly Eachus, 16th June 1846. During the same year she was converted with her husband, united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, and during the forty three years since, through removals to Iowa and later to California, in city or camp or rural home, she remained faithfull to her church. Five sons and three daughters came to the home of this good couple. They were cared for, trained, came to maturity, and all but one yet remains to bless the memory of the Christian mother whom they so deeply mourn. On june 15th, one day before her wedding anniversary she quietly. peachfully, fell asleep.
Brother Eachus brought his family to the west side of the San Joaquin, twelve miles from Newman, about twelve years ago and there they have since lived. Nearly five years ago the writer first met them. Delightfull will the memory always be of the
loving generous yet unostentatious hospitality, joined in by all this family, extended to the Presiding Elder on his visits. This has always been the preacher's stopping place, an itinerant's home. She died of cancer of the stomach or a place adjacent
to there, She endured five months of pain. Three months before her death, a heavy stroke came in the death of a married son.
Sister Eachus was a diligent, hospitable homekeeper, a loving, tender, faithful wife and mother, a clear-headed, self reliant, intellectual woman with strong convictions and affections and loyal to them; and above all she was an earnest Christian. The
immense audience that attended the memorial service at Dutch Corners, on june 23rd, evidence the regard with which she was held by the community. The stricken husband and children, the aged mother, the multitude of friends remaining, have their sorrows temperd by the memory of her Christian graces and her last triumph. (initialed JBG)

Coroner's Inquest
Coroner Brown held an inquest last night over John Eachus, the man who was killed near Jackman's Ranch, west of Reno.
The testimony showed that the unfortunate man was lying on the track, but when he was discovered it was too late to stop the engine although every effort was made to do so. As soon as the engine was stopped York, the engineer, went back and found the body, but no signs of life being evident he started off for Reno and informed parties of the occurrence. Coroner Brown departed on a special to the scene of the accident, and found the unfortunate man alive but sinking rapidly. He was brought to Reno where he died Sunday morning at 3 o'clock. The jury rendered a verdict in accordance with the above facts.

At about 4-45 yesterday afternoon a light engine struck and killed a man at 25 mile hill, near Jackmans Ranch, a mile and a half west of Laughton's Springs. The engine was coming to Reno to help up No. 2 and the boys say the usual signals were given, and no blame is attached to York, the engoneer. Supt Whited sent up the "Swing" crew to bring down the remains, and Coroner Brown was also duly notified and took charge of the body last night.

Pioneer of Pinon Mesa Died Today
One of the early settlers of the Pinon Mesa district, David Eachus, died this morning at 8:15 at the hospital where he was taken a few days ago for treatment.
Mr Eachus, who was 81 years old, came to the western slope in November, 1894 and established a cattle ranch on Pinon Mesa at that time an undeveloped and practically inaccessible section. He took part in the road building on Glade Park and in other work which helped to develop the community.
He had been ill since last January, spending the majority of the time in the city with his son, Archie. He returned to his home for a visit only a week ago, and was brought to Grand Junction to the hospital Wednesday.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Sarah Eachus, and his daughters, Mrs. Archie Lawson, Mrs. J. C. Roehms, Mrs. C. W. Mow, Glade Park, and his sons, Archie and Joseph, also of Glade Park. Three other children preceded him in death.

Vacaville, California
Albert H. Eachus, aged 82, died peacefully in his home and with his family on June 7, 2003, in Vacaville. Albert is survived by Anna Ruth Eachus, his adored and adoring wife of 62 years, and by his six children, Pat Braziel and her husband Sam Anderson of Elk Grove, Irva Eachus and his wife Sue of Davis, and Sue Menning and her husband Bill of Rancho Cordova. He is also survived by nine grandchildren with a sixth due in September.
He was born November 22, 1920, in Cedarville, CA, but spent much of the first half of his life in Sacramento, where he attended Sac High, met and married Anna Ruth Francis, and raised his family. He worked a total of eleven years for Safeway, rising to the level of store manager before attending Heald's College where he earned his accounting degree in June 1957. He then began his career as an Accounting Officer for the State of California, much of it at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville. He retired in 1977. He spent his retirement years running a small accounting practice, playing quite a lot of golf, traveling often to the coast, lunching with the "Over-the-Hill Gang", and, best of all, being constantly with his beloved Anna.
Albert was a quiet veteran of World War II, but in fact saw heavy action aboard the troop ship U.S.S. Latimer during the invasions of Luzon and Okinawa.

Eachus, Bob

Sept. 16, 1928 - Oct. 20, 2008 Bob died at home with his wife and son at his side after a valiant battle with cancer. Bob was born in Dunsmuir, CA the son of Clarence and Helen Eachus. He had many fond memories of his growing up years in that mountain community. Bob graduated from Dunsmuir High School and then continued his education at San Francisco City College where he earned a degree in hotel management. It was at this time that he married his high school sweetheart Alice Jane Coon. For several years Bob worked at the Clift and Canterbury hotels in San Francisco. Next, Bob returned to college at San Francisco State University where he earned a BA degree and a teaching credential. Bob taught at McCloud and Dunsmuir Elementary schools in Siskiyou County and Piner, Bellevue and Harmony Elementary Schools in Sonoma County before moving to Livermore in 1967. In Livermore Bob taught at Junction and Mendenhall schools until his retirement in 1988. After retirement Bob and Alice Jane enjoyed traveling. Bob was always ready with a helping hand for family and friends. Bob is preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth and his son Carl. Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years Alice Jane; his son Tom and wife Gail; his grandchildren Tom Eachus, Joe Eachus, Katie Eachus, John Biswell, Kelly Halliday and Jennifer Freehill; his brother Jim Eachus, and wife Amy; his sister Mildred Cole and husband Jim; and numerous nieces and nephews.
