  1. 1.  Mary Rose Gelling BellMary Rose Gelling Bell was born on 28 Aug 1893 in Douglas, Isle Of Man.

    Notes:

Tony Quirk's notes: Not shown as living at Family Home - 16 Dalton Street, Douglas, in 1901 Census. Living at 2 Crosby Terrace, Douglas, (where she apparently spent most of her childhood) being brought up by her maiden
Aunt, Eleanor Gelling. She was supposedly lonely and Rose went to live with her to keep her company. She eventually left the house to Rose and her son Donald (equal shares). However when Donald was married and living in Ashton-under-Lyne he forced the sale of the house to realise his half of the equity. He eventually received Rose's half share on her death. Married to Captain MADDRELL and has son Don who was MHK. Captain Madrell went to Canada and when he asked Rose & Don to join him she refused. She later married STARKEY, although there is some suggestion she was not free to do so - Bigamist marriage? Possibly married STARKEY in Ashton-under-Lyne! Had twins as well who were adopted-(possibly reared in Laxey or one in Peel).
