23020 Richard Leedom (Leedham), emigrating from England in 1712, requested a certificate to remove himself and his family from York, England MM (copy of certificate in book, p. 5), certificate signed 4d, 2 mo 1712 (4 Apr 1712). Certificate received at Middletown, PA MM 3 Dec 1714. York certificate signed by: George Stabler, William White junr, William White, Robert Adam, John, Nehemiah Morley, Marmaduke Boone, Edward Stabler, Timothy Hudson, John Rowland, Thomas Hammond, Stephen Thompson, William Cocksha (?), Thomas Etherington (?), Robert Ward, Joseph Todd
Records of Middletown MM show that on 1 Dec 1738, Richard and his son William applied for certificate of removal to Abington MM. It was granted Mar 1739. As there is no mention of Hannah, she had presumably died by then. In 1740 Richard is reported to Abington MM as having married a second time without approval of the meeting and was removed from the roll.
Richard's second wife's name appears to be Mary, referred to in two advertisements in the Pennsylvania Gazette dated 1742 and 1743 under the name Richard Leadame:
14 Dec 1742 Leadame, Richard of Philadelphia will not pay debts contracted in future by his wife Mary. (The notice was withdrawn on 21 Dec.)
17 Mar 1743 Leadame, Richard - his wife Mary abuses him so much that he cannot live with her; he will not pay debts contracted by her in future.
In "Biographical Annals of Montgomery County, PA", edited by Ellwood Roberts, the entry on Dr. Joseph Leedom states that he is a descendant of Richard Leedom who emigrated from Micklefield, England in 1712.
Manuscripts of the History of the Scott Family, Page 77, [Historical Southern Families CD] has this interesting note. A transcription is printed of the Certificate of Removal for Abraham Scott from Monthly Mens' Meeting at Woodhall, Cumberland, England dated 22nd day, 6th month 1722. It is followed with a list of names of persons accompanying him on his voyage to Philadelphia. Among them is named "Richard Leedham, from York, 2-4-1712". Dates next to other names range from 1701 to 1717 and appear to refer to certificate dates. The date with Richard Leedham is, in fact, the date of his Certificate of Removal from York Monthly Meeting. Though the text accompanying the Scott list is not completely clear it seems as if this shows at least one return trip to England for Richard Leedham.

23027 Richard was baptised as Richard Lewthwaite [illegitimate], mother Isabella Lewthwaite, single Mother. but the name Quirk was used as his name as early as the 1871 census when he was 4 . .The only connection found to connect him to his father Richard Caeser Quirk, is a newspaper article in which Richard Lewthwaite Quirk gave evidence in court that he was a nephew of William Charles Roper Quirk, Brother of his father, and son of Richard Quirks Snr. this would seem to say that Richard Caeser Quirk was his father. But there is a story which says his father is Richard Quirk Snr, father of both Richard Caeser Quirk and William Roper Quirk who had an affair with a barmaid/servant, called Isabella Jane Lewthwaite. and is in fact the father of Richard Lewthwaite. Both stories remain unproven.
