    The Marriage of Sampson Wickersham and Elizabeth Jackson

    Whereas Samson Wickersham son of James and Ann Wickersham of the Township of East Marlborough, county of Chester and Province of Pennsylvania, and Elizabeth Jackson, daughter of Jonathon and Mary Jackson of the same place aforesaid. Having declared their intentions of Marriage with each other before several Monthly Meetings of the people called Quakers Viz: At Newgarden and London Grove in the county and Province aforesaid according to the good order used among us and having consent of parents and parties concerned, their said proposals for marriage was allowed of by said meetings.
    Now these are to certify whom it may concern that for the full accomplishing of their said intentions this twenty second day of the eleventh month of the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy five, then said Samson Wickersham and Elizabeth Jackson appeared in a public meeting of the said people at the Grove aforesaid and the said Samson Wickersham taking the said Elizabeth Jackson to be his wife promising the Divine Assistance to be unto her a loving and faithful husband until the Lord by death please to separate them, and then and there in the same assembly the said Elizabeth Jackson did in like manner declare that she took the said Samson Wickersham to be her husband promising with Divine Assistance to be unto him a loving and faithful wife until it please the Lord by death to separate them (or words to that purpose). And moreover they the said Samson Wickersham and Elizabeth Jackson she according to the custom of Marriage assuming the name of her Husband as a further confirmation thereof did then and there to these present set their hands.
    And we whose names are hereunto subscribed, being present at the solemnization of the said Samson Wickersham marriage and subsection have as witnesses here Elizabeth Wickersham unto set out hands the day and year above.
