It is hard to believe some of the things Peter said, He age varied from Census to census, and on the 1st Aug 1864 he said he was living in
Saltersford-Cum-Kettleshulme and on the 7th August he said Chelford.

7th May 1849; Macclesfield Workhouse records- Peter Eachus absconded with establishment clothing. The Guardians reprimanded 10th May (3969/1 case No.6)
28 Mar 1857; Cheshire County Sessions. Trial for Burgalry, found guilty and sentenced to nine months hard labour. (MR3/4)
1st Dec 1873. St Mary's Stockport, Peter along with Emma Leech where witnesses to the marriage of James Thomas Gaskill age 20 Labourer and his step daughter Elizabeth Whittaker age 19

Peter was from Hurdsfield, according to his marriage certificate. No father was given

Notes:

At the time Peter married Elizabeth Buckley, he was a farmer in Middlewich, He later lived and farmed at Church Farm, Church Minshull. Elizabeth his wife lived round the bend in the road at the Smithy, some 200yds away.
He was a farmer at Middlewich, but later gave up farming and went into the grocery business at Lane End, Over. Lindsey Eachus of South Africa states that Peter was a one time Mayor of Over.

SUDDEN DEATH AT OVER: On Saturday evening last, Mr Eachus of Over, who was about 76 years of age, went out of his house to smoke his pipe in the yard, and not returning as usual, his wife made enquiries of a neighbour if he had come in there, and ascertaining that he had not, they both began to look for him, and after some little search they discoverd him sitting in the privy, quite dead, An inquest was held on Tuesday the 3rd inst, by Mr H Churton, and a verdict of died from apoplexy was returned.

John was a witness to the marriage licence of John Hough & Martha Edwards 24th Nov 1779 at Nantwich.

John Rented Houses and land in Minshull Vernon from Thomas Ashton in 1781 at a tax of ?5-2-0 for the whole year plus ?1-5-6 for out buildings 1782 to 1789 A farm and lands in Minshull Vernon from Harvey Ashton at a yearly Tax of ?5-2-0 plus ?1-5-6 for outs.
In 1789 John was the tax collector, and in 1790 the asessor.
From 1791 to 1795 he rented from Henry Harvey Ashton Houses and land ?5-2-0 tx 1796 to 1800 he rented a bigger farm from Henry Harvey Ashton
@ ?11-14-10 tax.
His son Samuel rented the original farm Tax ?5-2-0. 1801 to 1816 John Jnr has taken over the small farm from Samuel at the same tax. In 1811 Peter Eachus
was the collecter and in 1812 the assesor. Ann paid the tax after John Snr's death in 1817 only. John Jnr carried on at the second farm untill at least 1831
John Lived at Mote Farm, Minshull Vernon. from 1796 to the time of his death in 1816.
