    At the time of their wedding at Radnor Iredell & Helen were living in Wayne, Pa. Iredell was an Ensign stationd Washington, DC at the time, But the Church they booked was chosen for its picturesque qualities.

    Iredel Eachus Jr Computing & Radar Poineer. 1920-2005 died at the age of 85 on Tuesday December 13th 2005 after a long Illness.
    Eachus worked on the development of Radar, analog computers, and the ENIAC project while at the University of Pennsylvania's Moore school of Engineering. As a Navel Officer during WWII, Eachus worked on fire control systems that included radar controlled gun directors. After the war, he represented the American Navy at the Eniac acceptance tests by the Army's aberdeen proving ground. He then went to work at the Macbeth Arc Lamp Company in Philadelphia, which during the Korean War, developed and built radar gun directors for the Navy. As a consultant engineer during the 1950's, Eachus worked on the Univac I Computer at the LARC, the first real supercomputer. During this time he consulted on missile tracking radar systems for Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Known today as the Kennedy Space Center. In 1957 he returned to the Macbeth compnay as President succeeding his father, and he rained there untill his retirement. Macbeth Manufactured lighting systems for photo-lithography, process cameras, and high-end Durst enlargers used for advanced printing technologies for reconnaissance aircraft. Some of these systesm were used in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.
    Growing up in Wayen he enjoyed the outdoors. Eachus valued the training he received as a member of the Boy Scout Troup Paoli 1 where he achieved the rank of Honor Scout. Eachus graduated from Radnor High School in 1937 and recieved a scholarship to attend Stevens Institute of Technology. After his freshman year, he transferred to the university of Pennsylvania. Outside of work, Eachus was active in Local Politics, Scout Leader, Volunteer Fireman, a gabage tzar and a deacon of the Presbyterian Church. Eachus lived on Philadelphia;s Main Lien with his wife Helen untill their retiremant to the Eastern Shore of Maryland. After his wife's death he moved to Clearwater, Florida.
    Iredell is survived by children David Eachus of Clearwater, Fl. Robert Eachus of Nashua NH, Alison Eachus of Ardmore, Pa, Meredith Eachus Armstrong of Danvile, Pa and Lola Judith Chaisson of Concord, Ma. thier spouses; eight grandchildren; Chevery Arnold of Atlanta, Christopher Eachus of Fort Lauderdale, Fl. Pamela Eachus of London, UK. Robert Eachus of Fort Hood, Tx. Rebecca Armstrong of Los Angeles, Ca. and Megan, Paul and bridget Chaisson of Concord Ma His first Great Granchild, Reagan Arnold was born last February.

    Iredell Eachus Jr., 85, an electrical engineer and computing and radar pioneer who lived in Bala Cynwyd for most of his adult life, died Tuesday of myelodysplasia, a blood disease, at Sunrise Assisted Living of Haverford.
    Mr. Eachus was born in Bryn Mawr. He had lived in Clearwater, Fla., with his son David since his wife of 62 years, Helen, died in January.
    His family said he was a member of the team that developed and built the first general-purpose electronic computer, the ENIAC, which stands for "Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer."
    According to the University of Pennsylvania, where it was developed, ENIAC laid the foundation for the modern computing industry.
    He graduated from Radnor High School and received two degrees from Penn's Moore School of Engineering.
    Immediately afterward, his son said, Mr. Eachus received a direct commission from President Roosevelt as a Navy ensign and was assigned to the naval research labs in Washington, where he was involved in developing classified technology for weapons systems and communications devices for the war effort.
    After the war, he returned to Penn, where he became part of the ENIAC team.
    During the Cold War, Mr. Eachus established the consulting firm Eachus Associates. He helped build controls that allowed ground stations to track and communicate with satellites and space vehicles, his son said.
    In 1959, he succeeded his father as president of a family business, the Macbeth Arc Lamp Co. in Philadelphia. It was a manufacturer of process lighting in the graphic-arts industry.
    The children asked for homework help "with great trepidation," David Eachus said, "because the answer was always three hours long. . . . But you understood the subject matter completely when you walked away."
    After retiring in 1986, Mr. Eachus and his wife moved to Cambridge, Md.
    In addition to David, Mr. Eachus is survived by another son, Robert; daughters, Alison, Meredith Eachus Armstrong, and Lola Judith Chaisson; eight grandchildren; and a great grandchild.

    His second wife Sarah, a graduate of Boston University wrote "The Leedom Family" during the bicentennial year, 1976.. At the age of 76 Iredell travelled from New York to Southampton England on the ship Nieuw Amsterdam, arriving on the 5th October 1954. While in England he stayed at the Park Lane Hotel, London. his occupation was given as " Executive" He was accompanied on his trip by his second wife Sarah. Also an "Executive".

    Iredell Eachus was President of the Macbeth Arc Lamp Company at 141 Berkley Street from 1936 to 1959, and a former President of the Powelton Cut Glass Company, 44 East Allen Street.
    Iredell died on 26th October 1961 at his home, Wyncote House, Wyncot, Montgomery County at the age of 83. He is buried at Whitemarsh Memorial Cemetery in Prospectville, Pa.Iredell left a will dated May 20th 1959 appointing Sara Ann Leedom Eachus and
    John F> E> Hippel, Esquire as exectutors. Mr Eachus left his entire estate to his widow Sara provided that she survived him by six months. She did so survive him, and the clear value of the estate was listed. Iredell Eachus had enterd into a deed of
    trust as settlor on April 6th 1959 naming himself as settlor, and Iredell Eachus Jr and John F. E. Hippel, as trustees.
