Hostilities Only Petty Officer during the war and then went into partnership
with George Cormack (X10007) as Fishmongers and Greengrocers at 451 Stanley Rd
Bootle. Mr Cormack had been in the business since 1928, and Arthur took it
over when Mr Cormack retired.

Ernest and his son ran a shop in Knowsley Rd Bootle. Originally they owned four shops, one a pork butchers but were frauded by managers. Ernest was Everton's oldest shareholder at one time and was chairman of the Bootle Fire Brigade. He was asked to be mayor but his wife refused to accompany him.
