According to John Eachus of South Africa John Eachus (1824-1896) [F08038] left his wife during the cotton panic in 1864.
He was a tall man with black bushy hair.
I believe that John had a mistress Elizabeth Booth who was living at 14 William St, Hurdsfield in 1861 with her daughter Ann aged 5 months. They both appeared on the 1871 census living in Linthwaite as man and wife. Ann was the right age. John was 4 years older than stated but they were both born in Hurdsfield as given on this census. Another child Harriet (Booth) was born in 1864, the same time as his wife Maria had her last child Esther to him.
His daughter Esther stated on her marriage to Samuel Thomas in 1888, that her father was deceased, when infact he was living with Elizabeth and his second family in Linthwaite, Yorkshire.
At The Cheshire County Assizes 1843 John was imprisoned for 4 months for Disobeying an order in Bastardy.

John married Elizabeth Booth. Elizabeth was born in 1842 in Hurdsfield, Macclesfield, Cheshire, England; died in 1920 in 630 West Mount, Linthwaite, Yorks; was buried on 24 May 1920 in Linthwaite, Yorks. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
