    George was a shoemaker , and later he owned the Greyhound Inn, Coundon, This was passed to his son Joseph and then to his son George, who renamed it the Blue Bells.

    "This is the last will and Testament of me, George Dixon of Coundon in the county of Durham, Innkeeper. I bequeath to my dear wife Ann, all my household furniture and other effects in and about my dwelling house at the time of my decease absolutely. I give and devise to my trustees hereafter named all my Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever upon trust to keep the same in good repair and subject hereto pay the rents and profits thereof to my said wife Ann or allow her to receive the same during the term of her natural life. And after her death as to for and concerning the Public house situated at Coundon now in my own occupation Upon trust for my son Joseph Dixon for the term of his natural life without impeachment of waste and after his decase I give and devise the same unto and among his children in equal shares and proportions as tenants in common but if any of them shall die under the age of twenty one years without leaving issue then I devise the share or shares as well original accruing of such of them as so die to the survivor or survivors of then in equal shares as tenants in common thier heirs and assigns
