    Stationer at Maresfield Barracks in Uckfield, Sussex, Brian was the camp armourer, and was responsible for issuing new recruits with armaments. he was also a goalkeeper for the camp team, and played for Salford Amatures. Dave Ball who was a recruit in the itelligence corps new Brian from Januery to September 1965, he said of him that he was fair, approachable and chatty, with a northern sense of Humour, adding that he was a good honest man, who it was a privaledge to know.

From May 1946 to June 1950, John worked for D Barker & Sons Limited. Joinery Manufacturers, Albert Mills Chorley Road, Swinton. He was a Woodworking Machinist and Charge Hand responsible for twenty machines

He formed a small club in the 1920's for Ex Servicemen. Pre War he was in the T A . He served in Egypt 1914 and was Discharged 29th June 1916 (medically unfit).
