    Joseph A. Eachus of Van Wert, Ohio, passed away May 12, 2017.
    He was born January 8, 1933, in Gallipolis, Ohio, to Madge and Ben Eachus. Both preceded him in death.
    On December 19, 1954, he married Jane Ellen Norris, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Linda (Robert) Pelton of Hicksville, Ohio, and Sally (Jack) Jeffery of Lima, Ohio. He has four grandchildren, Laura (Goran) Eftimovski , Jenny (Josh) Gargac, Jeremy Jeffery and Kelsey Jeffery; and four great-grandchildren.
    Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Eachus of Minford, Ohio, and Dan Eachus of Tiffin, Ohio.
    Joseph was a graduate of Gallipolis Academy High School and earned both his bachelor's degree and master's degree from Ohio University in Athens.
    He served in the U.S. Army for two years, living in Erlangen, Germany, while spending 20 months abroad. He was discharged as a first lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers.
    following in the footsteps of his father, Joseph was a long-time educator and an accomplished woodworker. He taught industrial arts at schools in Union Furnace, Gallipolis, and Maple Heights, all in Ohio. He was also superintendent at Grover Hill and Payne schools and was also the first superintendent of Wayne Trace Local. Additionally, he taught electronics and drafting at Belmont High School in Decatur, Indiana.
    Joseph was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Van Wert, Ohio, and he used his woodworking skills to make many projects at the church. He also crafted numerous pieces of furniture for his home and those of his children and grandchildren.

    Jane Eachus, age 89, of Van Wert, Ohio, passed away Sept. 13, 2021. She was born May 18, 1932, in Ironton, Ohio, to Earle W Norris and Ada Marie Massie, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 19, 1954, she married Joseph Eachus, and they were married for more than 62 years before he passed away May 12, 2017.
    Immediately after their marriage, they lived for a year in Erlangen, Germany, where Joseph was stationed in the U.S. Army. They eventually resided in Van Wert for more than 50 years.
    They had two daughters: Linda (Robert) Pelton of Hicksville, Ohio; and Sally (Jack) Jeffery of Lima, Ohio; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
    Jane graduated from Ironton (Ohio) High School and earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and a master's degree from St. Francis College (now university) in Fort Wayne, Ind.
    Jane had a passion for children and for small animals. She devoted her career to educating students and was a fifth-grade teacher in Columbus and at Horace Mann, Pleasant and Anthony Wayne schools in Van Wert.
    Her commitment to helping youngsters realize their potential extended beyond the formal classroom and led Jane to become involved with Girl Scouts of America, of which she was a former member. She was active as a camp counselor; Brownie, Junior and Cadette leader; chairman of Appleseed Ridge Council; and neighborhood publicity chairman.

    Notes:

    Frank was a Barber in Gallipolis, a national horseshoe pitching champion and erstwhile amature minstrel. from 1914 to 1921 he was the national horse pitiching champion. at the time of his death he was district manager of the Ohio Horse Pitchers Association. He was a Barber for 60 years 48 years of which he was in the same Court Street Location. he retired in 1946 but still continued to work as a barber by appointment. in his private life he was an amateur minstrel, blackfaced comedian and a banjoist teaming up with the Late Frank Norton, his performances locally were legendary.

    Died:
    Frank died at 4:15pm on Wednesday. In failing health for several months, he had been in a critical condition for his last week and lapst in a coma several days before his death, His death was due to a heart condition.

    Rose Eachus of Court Street, died at 5 am at the Holzer Hospital, she had been seriousley ill ever since she was admitted there on Saterday Last. She contracted a bad cold a week ago and had been in poor health for over a year.
