Samuel's father had Corn Mills in Newton & Bradley, and the family moved between the two. In his will he dequeath's to his trusted friend John Pickering of Bleakley in Kingsley, Cheshire, Farmer and his son John Grice of Kingsley [to whom he gives the title of Yeoman]. and their heirs. the two freehold Messuages or Dwelling houses with outbuildings , Gardens and appurtenances, and all the field or close of land adjoining the said dwelling houses situated in Kingsley aforesaid now in the occupation of James Grice and the said John Grice.
