    Enid Cheetham (nee Riley). She was adopted in 1936 a couple of weeks after birth. Enid grew up in Coventry, moved to South Africa in the 1970's, and spent her last years in the 2000\'s in Melbourne, Australia. Enid's adoption certificate says her birth mother was Winifred Eachus. Winifred worked as a domestic servant at 7 Plant Lane in Sandbach.
    Her mother may have been Winifred Alice Eachus.

    THAT POWERFUL THOROUGH-BRED HORSE
    AMURATH

    Late the property of the Right Hon. The Earl of Derby
    Now the Property of Mr JOHN EACHUS of Over, Cheshire.

    Thorough-bred mares at six guineas each, and ten shillings the groom;
    Half-bred mares at three guineas each, and five shillings the groom: the
    groom's fee to be paid at the time of covering.
    AMURATH is of a rich dark chestnut colour, stands 16 hands high, with great
    bone sinews,and fine action in all his paces. He was got by Langar the sire of
    Ellis, winner of the Great St Leger, at Doncaster, in 1836:-His dam Armlda by
    Rinaldo, grandam sister to Boz by Bussard- Bennington's dam by the Percy
    Arabian-Herod-Snap-Shepherd's Crab.
    At four years old at Chester, AMURATH, won 50 sovs added to a Sweepstakes
    beating Mr Price's Stafford, Sir R W Buckley's Azalia, Mr Johnson's Lucifer,
    Gen Yates Mersey, Mr Bowers Dovetail, Mr Shirley's Fury, Mr Barrows Burnley,
    and Mr Critchley's b.c. by Memnon. At Liverpool he won the Croxteth Stakes,
    Beating Mr Mostyn's Tom Shipman, Mr Nanny's Frier Tuck, Sir T Stanley's Jacob
    Faithful, and Lord Kilburne's c.f. by Actaeon.
    At Five years old at Liverpool he won the Aintree Stakes, also a sweepstake
    and the Waterloo cup.
    At Six years old after covering a great number of mares he won a plate at
    Shrewsbury. At Heaton Park he won the Earl of Wilton's Plate of ?100.
    AMURATH in the years 1838, 1839 and 1840 obtained the premium at the Lancaster
    Agricultural Meeting for the best thorough-bred Stallion. Also at Preston he
    gained the Agricultural Society's Premium for Four Years, viz 1838,1839.1840
    and 1841, as the best bred stallion shown. His stock obtained the premiums at
    Lancaster and other Agricultural meetings as being the best young stock got by
    any horse. AMURATH has proved himself a sure foal-getter:-his stock are
    remarkably good looking and of great size and very powerful:- He is the sire
    of that celebrated horse ABDIEL (the property of Lord Stanly). And also the
    sire of BOWSTRING (also the property of Lord Stanly)

    AMURATH

    Will attend the following places health permitting

    Every Monday Morning by Weaverham Gate, through Aston to the Hare and Hounds,
    Crowton, where he will stop till eleven o'clock thence by the Red Lion, Norley
    through Woodside, Manly and Ashton, to the Royal Oak, Kelsall, where he will
    stop till four, and thence to his own stable at Over, where he will remain all
    night. TUESDAY through Wettenhall, by the High-way-side, to the WheatSheaf,
    Four Lanes Ends, thence through Eaton and Little Budworth to his own Stable.
    THURSDAY to the White Bear, Middlewich thence to Mr C Plant's Red Lion, Holmes
    Chapel, where he will stop till Twelve. thence by Brereton Green to the
    George Inn, Sandbach where he will stop till five, thence to his own stable.
    FRIDAY through Davenham to the George and Dragon, Northwich, where he will
    stop till four and from thence to his own stable. SATURDAY through Minshull to
    the Coach and Horses, Bradfield Green where he will stop till twelve, thence
    through Leighton to the Union Inn, Nantwich where he will stop till five,
    thence to his own stable at Over, where he will remain untill Monday morning.

    Any Mares tried by Amurath and coverd by any other horse will be charged full
    price, unless understood by the Groom
    All MONIES to be paid on or before the 24th June, or an extra charge of 10/-
    will be made for collecting
