Note from Angela Walker (Great Niece of Adelaide Eachus Philcox)
Muriel (george's brother Horace's daughter) lived in Malta. She would travel across Europe on the Train to spend time in England, and her Uncle George would travel with her to look after her. George was agreat joker and thought nothing of puttin Jam in the hair of his niece's hair.

    Letter from John Rigbey 17/Feb/2010
Like Angela Walker, Adelaide Eachus and George Philcox were my great uncle/aunt. He was my grandmother's brother born in Edinburgh. They lived in Plymouth (where I do) and George was always interested in the theatre etc. He was something of an acrobat and was wont to practice his stuff in the cemetery of Stole Damerel Church (which backed on to where they lived) and was forever being chased out by the vicar for his trouble! He took to frequenting the stage door of the Grand Theatre in Union St (now gone) and kept running away with a group of adagio dancers and having to be brought back by the police. Eventually his parents saw that there was little point and he was allowed to go off with them and learn the trade. The daughter was Adelaide and he married her in Paris. I have several photos of them on cards sent from various places in Europe etc (the backs of the cards are also there, hand-written, and I can copy them to you if you would like. For many years I have been trying to establish if the Philcox line were Jewish and can tell you more of this if it would be of interest.
