8. | Edward William Eachus was born on 29 Mar 1880 in 20 West Burton St, Salford (son of Edward Eachus and Elizabeth Jones); died on 16 Feb 1945 in 101 West Worsley Street, Salford; was buried in 1945 in Weaste Cemetery. Notes: Edward was a sapper #1137. Royal Engineers, 2nd East Lancs Mediterranean Force. He was badley wounded at the Gallipoli Landings in 1915. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal on the 23 October 1917, by the Mayor of Salford, for gallantry and devotion to duty. and mentioned in despatches. He formed a small club in the 1920's for Ex Servicemen. Pre War he was in the T A . He served in Egypt 1914 and was Discharged 29th June 1916 (medically unfit). Edward married Teresa Murphy in 1901 in Scotch Presbyterian, Pendleton. Teresa (daughter of Patrick Murphy and Catherine (Kate) Daley) was born on 5 Nov 1880 in Hayfield St, Pendleton; died on 12 Sep 1952 in Weaste; was buried in 1852 in Weaste Cemetery.
