At about 4-45 yesterday afternoon a light engine struck and killed a man at 25 mile hill, near Jackmans Ranch, a mile and a half west of Laughton's Springs. The engine was coming to Reno to help up No. 2 and the boys say the usual signals were given, and no blame is attached to York, the engoneer. Supt Whited sent up the "Swing" crew to bring down the remains, and Coroner Brown was also duly notified and took charge of the body last night.

As soon as the engine was stopped, York the engineer, went back and found the body, but no signs of life being evident he started off for Reno and informed parties of the occurrence, Coroner Brown departed on a special to the scene of the accident, and found the unfortunate man alive but sinking frapidly.
